Professor Wei-Sheng Liu (劉維昇) awarded by Chinese Institute of EE 元智光電系劉維昇教授榮獲中國電機工程學會105年「優秀青年電機工程師獎」

Professor Liu from Department of Photonics Engineering receives 2016 Outstanding Youth Electrical Engineer Award, recognized by the Chinese Institute of Electronic Engineering. Professor Liu publishes a tremendous amount of research papers and accepts praises from the international community. His publications are top the list in the same category in a working period.

The Institute selects ten recipients from academic institutes and the industry for the Outstanding Youth Electrical Engineer Award every year, and those specialists have expertise in electricity, telecommunications, electronic engineering and information technology. Mr. Liu is the only professor coming from the private university.

元智大學光電系劉維昇教授憑著自身的專業能力，論文在國際期刊發表上多方受到肯定，在同一期發表同一類型的期刊名次中，每每名列前茅並榮獲中國電機工程學會105年「優秀青年電機工程師獎」。

「優秀青年電機工程師獎」當選人每年只有十項名額，學術界及工程界各半，並包含電力、電信、電子、資訊等專長。在得獎名單中，劉維昇是唯一一位私立大學教授，從眾多大學及業界中脫穎而出，與各個電機專業人才並列。

劉維昇認為，身為一名工程師，要做的事就是將一般大眾看不懂的數字、符號和原理，轉變為生活的便利，為社會提出貢獻。從笨重的大卡車到精密的電路板，都是經過多重的運算、推敲和轉換，才呈現出如今的面貌。同時，身為一名教授，要做的事就是將知識傳授給學生，告訴他們如何解讀科學。在他帶領之下的研究生，也時常發表文章於國際期刊，在專題作品展暨競賽中屢獲佳績。

劉維昇表示，做任何事情，都要覺得自己對於這件事是滿分的，當已經是滿分的狀態下，就能進行到下一個階段。他並鼓勵學生們在求學期間，勇於嘗試達到自己想要的任何目標。劉維昇說，我不知道做了會不會成功，只知道不做一定會後悔。

不只在專業領域表現卓越，劉維昇平時也和學生多有互動，曾經擔任攝影社指導老師及課外活動組老師。除了對研究生進行指導，也時常一起聚餐，增進彼此感情。
